Overview

Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division is looking for an Autonomous Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Autonomous Technology Engineering Supervisor, this role will support the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of world-first autonomous haulage technology while rotating across multiple technical disciplines within our Autonomous Technology Engineering team.


The Location: This position operates on a fly-in, fly-out roster of 8/6 and 7/7 in Western Australia.

Responsibilities

As Autonomous Specialist you will be responsible for these activities:

  • Support the installation, commissioning, operation, and continuous improvement of Hexagon’s onboard autonomous technology across autonomous and driven vehicle fleets.
  • Assist with data analysis activities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational outcomes.
  • Support commissioning and optimization of server and network infrastructure used for autonomous operations.
  • Implement and maintain security measures that protect systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
  • Operate and monitor autonomous road trains throughout all stages of the haulage process, including loading, travelling, tipping, refuelling, and marshalling.
  • Support route optimization activities to improve operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and minimize road wear.
  • Provide real-time monitoring, tracking, reporting, and operational support for autonomous haulage activities.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline including Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to understand and interpret technical data.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying new technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a fly-in, fly-out roster.

Nice To Have:

  • Understanding of mining operations and mining processes.
  • Passion for and understanding of autonomous technologies.
  • Experience working with industrial, mining, automation, networking, or control systems.
