Overview

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a Manufacturing Engineer, reporting to the Production Manager, you will influence business success by applying your extensive engineering background and expertise in implementing and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process within a high-tech industry. Your responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new processes, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position can be based in Peoria Metropolitan Area, Illinois.

Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will: 

  • Create manufacturing processes and procedures. 
  • Support future production planning with labor, material, and production cost calculations.    
  • Analyze information, generate alternatives, and commit to solutions that ensure the efficient use of resources.  
  • Implement process improvements by prioritizing and assigning tasks, resources, and accountabilities to ensure objectives are met within the required time and budget. 
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. 
  • Follow all applicable legal, safety, and environmental requirements.  
  • Maintain capital assets in premium condition while creating a showplace environment throughout the facility. 
  • Assist in documentation of products with the Mechanical Engineering team.  
  • Collaborate with Engineering regarding product design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. 
  • Participate in and where possible lead CI activities/processes. 
  • Follow all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. 
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering dept. in Morton to create and maintain standard work.   
  • This position may require travel to other Hexagon facilities and customer locations. 

Qualifications

Must have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience  
  • Track record of success in Continuous Improvement activities. 

 

 Key Success Factors:  

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and /or SolidWorks CAD software. 
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Demonstrated success with problem solving.

 

Nice to have:  

  • Familiarity with hardware and software associated with mining autonomy.  
  • Increasing level of responsibilities in project management. 
  • Knowledge of autonomous systems and autonomous vehicles 
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Lean Manufacturing, Automation, and Capital Projects.
