Overview

Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions is looking for an Aerospace and Defense Engineering Intern to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company for the period of May 4, 2026 to May 3, 2027.  To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Aerospace and Defense Engineering team. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our team of Aerospace and Defense product engineers working on the NovATel's Ground Reference Receiver,  GAJT and Defense Receiver portfolio of products.  Working with our experienced team of electrical, software and system engineers you will gain valuable experience in hardware, software or system design and verification. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on meaningful projects, gain practical experience, and contribute to the development of innovative technologies. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Calgary, AB. 

Responsibilities

As an Aerospace and Defense Engineering Intern, responsibilities include:

 

  • Design, execute, and document software verification methods for NovAtel's Ground Reference Receiver and Anti-jam products.
  • Develop software and tools in C++, Python and MATLAB for testing and product improvement.
  • Automate testing and post-processing using MATLAB and Python.
  • Troubleshoot failing tests and/or units under test to identify and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the development and testing of GNSS Reference receiver software, and anti-jam product software, depending on your skills and interests.
  • Actively participate in code and test reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Registered in an Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of the work term.
  • Enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Geomatics Engineering at an accredited post-secondary institution, with a focus on software development and signal processing.
  • Available for a minimum 12-month work term, working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of following complex instructions with a “first-time right” attitude.
  • Motivated by challenging work and eager to learn.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Interest in Signals and Systems, RF Circuit Design, or Embedded Software Design.
  • Hands-on experience with MATLAB and Python.
