Manufacturing Engineer 

Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions Division is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a global leader in engineering and technology, committed to developing innovative solutions that drive meaningful impact. In this role, you will focus on designing, improving, and validating assembly processes for new Printed Circuit Board (PCBs) and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), ensuring they are optimized for efficient and reliable production. You will work closely with design teams to ensure products are manufacturable and meet high-quality standards. 

As part of the team, you will collaborate with product development and business operations to transition new, sustainable products into high-volume production. Your efforts will help ensure products are delivered on time while meeting performance and quality expectations. Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions division: This division was established in 2022 by combining the Autonomy & Positioning (A&P), Mining and Agriculture divisions of Hexagon. With over 2000 global employees, the division offers perception, positioning, vehicle autonomy and site orchestration technologies to enable the full autonomous solution for agriculture, mining, automotive, marine and other industries.  

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Calgary, AB or Tucson, AZ. 

Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on IPC standards for PCB and PCBA fabrication. 
  • Collaborate with product development and operations teams, providing best-in-class Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidance to successfully transition new, sustainable products into high-volume production. 
  • Provide technical and manufacturing support for New Product Introduction (NPI) builds. 
  • Review and support the validaion and implementation of engineering or process changes. 
  • Provide technical support for PCB/PCBA supplier audits. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance DFM and manufacturing processes at Hexagon Global sites, PCB suppliers, and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers. 

Qualifications

Must-Have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or Manufacturing. 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in PCB or PCBA design or manufacturing. 
  • Strong technical aptitude with a solid understanding of surface mount technology (SMT) assembly processes, along with knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and JSTD-001 standards. 
  • Robust analytic and formal problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, including the creation of DFM reports, prototype/pilot build reports, work instructions, and process documentation. 
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and experience with Gerber/ODB++ viewers. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally as needed.
