Hexagon Autonomous Solution comprises of three divisions: Agriculture, Autonomy & Positioning and Mining – Providing a breadth of perception, positioning, vehicle autonomy and site orchestration technologies to enable the full autonomous solutions for the agriculture, mining, automotive and marine sectors.

 

The Project: Hexagon has partnered with our mining client to develop an autonomous haulage solution for a will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port.  The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage. 

Responsibilities

The Position; Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Site Autonomy you will join the development team responsible for designing autonomous site systems. This position is a is a strategic role responsible for acting as the local systems engineer where you will work with the field support, validation and verification, and development teams to provide subject matter expertise on the product requirements.  

 

In addition you will drive key field learnings and feedback into improved requirements during the field follow phases of the program this may or may not include the following duties;

  • Lead the technical aspects of projects in collaboration with the Chief Engineer, Project Manager and a team of subject matter experts
  • Evaluate customer requirements and operational use cases to define and decompose system functional and performance requirements
  • Complete system and product analyses for reliability, maintainability, testability, usability, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, affordability, safety, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and application of Systems Engineering processes and best practices

The Location:  This position is based in Wangara Perth WA. As you will be part of a global team this position may require adhoc meetings early AM or PM, therefore we provide flexible working arrangements to support.

Qualifications

About you

 

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer, with a background in the development automation in product development for operational infrastructure across mining or heavily industrial facilities. Those with exposure to the advancing sector of AHS automation in mining, would be advantageous.

In addition we are seeking those with the following qualifications and skills;

 

Technical

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering related discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Understanding of the product development life cycle and systems development V-model
  • Technical research abilities with the aptitude for sharing of information and expertise
  • Advanced systems and software architectural design and analysis skills
  • Well versed in developing and managing verifiable requirements for systems, hardware and software

General

  • Ability to build strong collaboration, facilitation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Valid Australian working rights : Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen

 

Desirable

  • Familiarity with electronic actuation of vehicle-control systems, automotive-grade controllers in safety-critical applications, as well as CAN and ROS interfaces
  • Experience with multi-sensor systems and technologies, including GNSS, IMU, Laser, LiDAR, RADAR, ultrasonic, vision/optical, etc.
  • Well versed in developing and managing verifiable requirements for systems, hardware and software
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and ASPICE process standards
  • Awareness of architectural frameworks (e.g. UAF, DoDAF, MODAF, TOGAF), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and related tools such as Enterprise Architect (EA) or CORE
