We provide high precision OEM positioning and perception technologies to advance navigation and autonomy systems.

 

The Project: Hexagon has partnered with our mining client to develop an autonomous haulage solution for a will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port.  The solution, which includes drive-by-wire technology and an autonomous management system, is a truck-agnostic, full-site solution designed to streamline vehicle movement in road-train haulage. 

Responsibilities

The Position: Reporting to the Senior Engineering Deployment Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the field testing operations at our Perth Autonomous Test Track and customer site.  As Site lead, you will be responsible for prioritizing field test requests ensuring seamless coordination between engineering teams and test activities, ensuring testing processes are integrated efficiently within development cycles to meet the requirements of the project timelines.

 

As a site lead you will wok closely with the Production Manager/Engineers & customer teams to ensure assets are equipped for testing purposes. Further duties include but not limited to the following.

 

  • Review and approve JHAs for tests that fall outside standard safety documentation.
  • Coordinate with customers to integrate maintenance schedules into asset availability for test allocation.
  • Engage with development engineering teams to comprehend testing needs and development dependencies, optimizing test asset usage.
  • Collaborate with the NPD Field Test Manager to assess the team's capacity for testing with current assets and workforce.
  • Provide customers with prioritized test schedules and communicate potential project delays due to schedule changes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline field test requirements.

 

This will see you work with team across the globe inclusive of America/Canada and South America therefore will require attendance of business meetings during international time zones. 

Qualifications

About you

 

Are you a experience supervisor/team lead or engineering manager who is interested in being part of a world 1st that could revolutionise the AHS opportunities within the mining sector?  We are seeking those who have led the testing frameworks within a project-based environment, who can be a part of our growth as we head into a new phase of this project’s lifecycle.   In addition, we are seeking those with the following qualifications and skills;

 

Technical

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relative industry experience within Autonomous Technology/AHS Systems for the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Prior experience working within development teams for autonomous systems for min site operations
  • Prior experience in a project environment, leading the coordination of test-based activities, developing frameworks and process within the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationship across a varied stakeholder group, both locally and internationally.

General

  • Ability to lead and influence cross functionally across the project team on site testing objective or project time requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across a dynamic Multi-level project and client team.
  • Availability to attend site-based trips ad hoc, as per need of project/customer
  • Valid Australian working rights: Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen

Desirable

  • Experienced in AHS/Autonomous development engineering teams for mining operations
  • Prior experience in mine production/operations
  • Prior experience as a supervisor/team leader within a project-based environment
  • Exposure to new or start up projects, assisting in development of project framework/polices/procedure documentation.
