Overview

Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a Geomatics Engineer to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company that is committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Manager, Sensor Fusion, you will focus on developing market leading GNSS/INS (SPAN) solutions. In this, you will have opportunities to work with the other engineers in the wider NovAtel organization to build software solutions for data management and analysis, implement navigation enhancements, participate in firmware qualifications, as well as work with our dedicated Applications Engineer team to assist with complex customer integrations and use cases. Your knowledge in software development, data analysis, and your methodical problem-solving approach will support ongoing business initiatives in our exciting High-Tech environment.

Responsibilities

As part of the Sensor Fusion team, the Geomatics Engineer is responsible for:

  • Development and enhancement of GNSS + Inertial navigation technology
    • Performance improvements; algorithm, filter, mechanization
    • Integrating and evaluating new IMUs and external sensors
    • Investigating new technologies
  • Development and enhancement of data management and analysis tools/utilities
  • Real world testing and analysis of data
    • Collection of real world GNSS/INS data
    • Detailed and methodical analysis of data
  • Liaising with other departments to analyze and debug customer applications and data
  • Investigation of problems and resolve system defects
  • Defining functional and performance requirements; design, code, and test to meet schedule and quality targets for production releases

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • B.Sc. in Geomatics, Electrical or Software Engineering with 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Proficient writing code in Python and C++
  • Knowledge of software development practices and methodology
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • English fluency with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective organization skills
  • Understanding of coordinate systems and reference frames
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

  • Knowledge of GNSS/INS systems and filtering techniques (least squares, Kalman filtering, etc.)
  • Familiarity of geodetic principles
  • Knowledge of embedded systems
