Overview

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions (AS) is looking for Senior Analyst Finance (R&D & Operations) to assist the team with reporting and analysing actual and forecast financial data. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our R&D & Operations Financial Reporting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic, collaborative team to enhance financial performance and strategic initiatives across the division.

 

While part of the Finance R&D and Operations team, this position will join a high-performance team focused on providing continues ssupport to all key stakeholders to provide meaningful data, at the right time, and with the correct focus to assist their understanding and decision making.

  

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position is based in Calgary. 

 

Responsibilities

As our Senior Analyst Finance (R&D & Operations), responsibilities include:

 

  • Performing all cost accounting functions to ensures accurate costing
  • Working with operations and supply chain to set new standard cost and perform global cost roll(Quarterly)
  • Reviewing & analysing standard and actual costs for variances (PPV) and prepare reports, identifying issues and providing solutions in timely manner
  • Calculating loaded labour and material overhead rates (Quarterly basis)
  • Reconciling inventory, reporting inventory turns, obsolescence and related provisions
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the costing process from start to finish, creating detailed documentation to share knowledge effectively
  • Assisting in the month-end closing process by preparing detailed product costing reports and analysis, initiate adjusting entries if required
  • Preparing and presenting cost reports and analysis to management, highlighting key trends and actionable insights
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory costing processes
  • Assisting with data gathering regarding Quality rate: the percentage of products that meet the quality standards and specifications, and do not require rework or scrap
  • Supporting the Senior Manager Finance (R&D & Operations) with financial operational improvements across supply chain, R&D and manufacturing
  • Working with the Senior Manager Finance (R&D & Operations), conduct thorough cost analysis for research & development projects, ensuring accurate tracking of labour charges & expenses
  • Supporting stakeholders to provide meaningful data, at the right time, and with the correct focus to assist their understanding and decision making.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly cost reports identifying variances and providing insightful commentary to all stakeholders for Gross Margin, Inventory ageing and R&D
  • Assisting in the preparation of management reports and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Adhering to all internal policies within AS and ensure entities across the AS division are aligning with the policies
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to all stakeholders providing financial data, financial knowledge and support
  • Prioritize stakeholder needs and enhance their experience
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Assisting the Senior Manager Finance (R&D & Operations) to contribute to the data required for R&D and Operations for the quarterly business review process
  • Assisting with transformational projects across Corporate Services as needed

 

Qualifications

Must-Have:                       

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or an equivalent field
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the manufacturing environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, inventory management software, preferably Syteline, and project management tools.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing methodologies and variance analysis
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with a formidable attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

Nice-to-Have:

  • CPA designation
  • Exposure and experience with Syteline, BI, OneStream and/or other accounting systems
  • Experience in costing of Research & Development claims and knowledge of the relevant tax law
  • Elevated pride of ownership in work product
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, be additive when and where you can, and support team tasks to help out the company when necessary
