Field Applications Engineer - Aerospace and Defense

Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is seeking a tech-savvy and personable Applications Engineer for the Aerospace and Defense BA, to provide high-level technical support and case management for our Aerospace & Defense customers. In this dynamic and hands-on role, you will leverage your expertise to ensure customer success with our cutting-edge positioning technologies.

As part of our Global Customer Support team, you will focus on supporting civilian and military customers, collaborating closely with Defense contractors, Sales, Specialists, Engineering, Export Compliance, and Account Managers. You will act as the primary point of contact for our customers, helping them integrate and optimize our aerospace and defense solutions into their platforms.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This hybrid position is based in Calgary, AB. 

As our Applications Engineer, Aerospace and Defense, you would be responsible for:

• Managing customer expectations and championing their issues and concerns
• Providing technical support for both pre-sales opportunities and post-sales issues such as:
  • Data analysis for support cases
  • Troubleshooting, investigation, and issue replication
  • Phone and email support
• Generating and reviewing of marketing material and technical support documentation including "Frequently Asked Questions" and "Application Notes" 
• Collaborating with internal teams to address customer needs, including Sales, Engineering, and Compliance.
• Physical investigation/data collection for engineering teams
• Perform product testing and verification 
• Provide in-person professional services including customer demonstrations and troubleshooting 
• Contribute to root cause analysis 
• Attend trade shows and test trials

Must-Have:                       

• Bachelors degree in Geomatics, Electrical Engineering or related field, with 2+ years of related industry experience
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to get on with others
• English fluency with excellent verbal and written skills
• Able and willing to travel, internationally for customer demonstrations and trade shows, as well as nationally.
• Understanding of CRM tools, salesforce

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in scripting, BASH, Python, LUA
• Matlab experience
• Experience working within the Defense industry or with Defense contractors
• Experience in GNSS and INS systems installation and/or troubleshooting
