Site Autonomy Validation and Verification Manager

We are seeking a Site Autonomy Verification and Validation (V&V) Manager to oversee and lead the V&V efforts for autonomous site systems. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the successful development, deployment, and validation of autonomous systems for our clients. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of Site Autonomy, you will leverage your expertise in hardware and software system testing strategies, leading a team to ensure the integrity and performance of autonomous systems. You will manage the site solution level V&V lifecycle across product development, contributing to planning, execution, and communication with key stakeholders.

This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, a global technology leader, pioneering end-to-end solutions industry leaders rely on for assured positioning and autonomy on land, sea and air. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is located in the Perth, Western Australia area. This role specifically would report daily to the Wangara, Western Australia office location.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage V&V Activities: Oversee the V&V strategy for autonomous site systems, ensuring all validation and verification activities align with product development goals, timelines, and customer requirements.
  • Collaboration and Strategy Alignment: Work closely with component and sub-system V&V teams to ensure a cohesive, comprehensive testing strategy that aligns with customer needs, internal goals, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop V&V Plans: Manage detailed validation and verification plans for site systems that require interconnection between multiple components and sub-systems, ensuring thorough coverage and comprehensive testing across an integrated system.
  • Testing and Execution: Contribute to the management of execution activities, including test execution planning, resource allocation, and tracking progress. Ensure all critical testing aspects are covered and results are accurately reported.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate the progress and results of V&V activities to leadership, project management, and other stakeholders. Provide timely reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to testing processes, tools, and resources to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of V&V activities.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel up to 10% of the time to various test locations to ensure successful execution and support of testing activities.
  • Mentoring and Leadership: Guide, mentor, and develop a team of V&V engineers, ensuring effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Lead through influence rather than authority.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in an engineering-related discipline, specifically in product development, with experience in leading V&V efforts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage teams and projects effectively.
  • Strong understanding of test planning, execution, and reporting, with a focus on autonomous systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-on experience with V&V management tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr, XRay, Test Rails, etc).

Key Success Factors:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing highly technical product development strategies including plans for verification of specific requirements as well as broader validation to ensure products are fit for purpose.
  • Ability to think creatively and lead by example, fostering an environment of idea-sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and clients, exhibiting excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A track record of creating repeatable processes and procedures to ensure testing is structured and efficient.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Direct experience with V&V activities related to autonomous site systems and autonomous vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience with V&V execution tools (e.g., Vector tools, HIL equipment (e.g., Dspace), SIL software (e.g., TruckSim)).
