Our team is searching for a Project Engineer – Antennas to drive product development activities and design best practices. In this role you will have the opportunity work on a wide variety of product designs from concept development through production support. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in the oceanside community of Torrance, CA. One of the best places to live in California with ocean beaches, plenty of parks and endless sunny days.

Responsibilities

As Project Engineer, Antennas, you will:

  • Drive the design of new antenna products and components, engaging cross functional teams to ensure cost, schedule and quality targets are achieved.
  • Act as project manager for multiple concurrent projects of varied duration and technical complexity. Track progress and actions and enforce accountability across engineering team. 
  • Learn and understand department operating procedures (Antenna Product Development) to enforce process across projects of different technical readiness levels. Ensure timely and effective completion of all required deliverables.
  • Anticipate, manage and mitigate risks on projects and in existing product portfolio.
  • Support new business development through evaluating requirements, generating compliance matrices, and consolidating technical responses to requests for proposal (RFPs).
  • Champion continuous improvement in our product designs and engineering practices, identifying and implementing solutions through to close.
  • Support sales, product management, quality and operations by addressing customer questions, completing feasibility studies, supporting customer calls, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis investigations for product issues. Document findings and recommended corrective actions. Implement solutions through to close.
  • Review new product designs and changes, ensuring that designs are high quality and consider engineering best practices, manufacturability, and customer needs.
  • Facilitate collaboration with other engineering teams to ensure knowledge is shared cross-site and cross-discipline.
  • Coordinate environmental test planning, execution, and documentation efforts against environmental requirements such as RTCA/DO-160G and MIL-STD-810G.
  • Work with engineering manager to understand technology and portfolio roadmap, strategic objectives, and business initiatives to communicate and manage engineering team’s priorities.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience. Level of position commensurate with experience and expertise.
  • Proactiveness, adaptability, open-mindedness and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to move business forward.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Experience providing project leadership in cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Experience leading, managing or mentoring teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment with various concurrent projects and competing priorities.
  • Curiosity and a desire to challenge the status quo.
  • A focus on project excellence and an ability to wear many hats and flex between disciplines.
  • A 4-year engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Applicants for select positions that require access to information controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) must be US Persons per ITAR §120.15 and EAR §772.1 (i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or admitted to the U.S. as an asylee or refugee), or be otherwise eligible to obtain required authorization from the U.S. Government to access controlled information. Employment is contingent upon Antcom’s ability to obtain such required authorization for the applicant

Nice-to-Have: 

  • Experience designing products for the aerospace, defense, and/or marine industries.
  • Knowledge of antennas, RF and/or mechanical design principles.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and certification processes (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, TSO, CE).
  • Experience as a project or functional manager for an engineering team.

Compensation & Benefits 

Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division provides the following compensation range and a general description of other compensation and benefits.  This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule.  The Company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range or offer other compensation depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state or federal law.  Our benefits and bonus plans are reviewed annually and are subject to change at the company’s discretion.  

 

Hiring Salary Range: $76,500 - $146,800 per annum

 

Bonus Eligibility:  We offer a company profit share and individual incentive-based bonus programs.
