Overview

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division, is looking for an Localization Engineering Intern to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader in tech that does cool stuff that matters. The Localization Team at Hexagon Autonomy and Positioning is a worldwide team of passionate engineers with complementary technical background (sensing, algorithms, software, system engineering). The system engineering group has the overall understanding of the entire system, from sensing to the end-user function. It integrates explicit and implicit needs into Localization system requirements, and implements innovative technical solutions toward efficient, cost-competitive and time to market product design. As an intern, you will have a dedicated mentor that will advise and guide you during your intership. You will collaborate with many experienced engineers too. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Ottawa, ON

Responsibilities

As a Localization Engineering Intern, responsibilities include:

  • Contribute on development, testing, and validation of Localization system that combines sensors and algorithms.
  • Help with testing of autonomous vehicles
  • Help to design system for navigation in GNSS-unavailable areas.
  • Evaluate and intregate together various Localization algortithms.
  • Record data in real situations.
  • Present your results with the Localization team.

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term.
  • Enrolled in Electrical Engineering or similar at an accredited post secondary institution.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Knowledge of perception and localization sensors (gnss, imu, camera, lidar, radar, etc.).
  • Agile in at least one programming language (Ideally Python or C++).

Key Success Factors:

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong interest in science and engineering applications.
  • Curious and willing to learn.
  • Able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of computer vision and machine learning disciplines.
