Geomatics Designer

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a geomatics engineer to join the Waypoint group in developing market leading GNSS/INS post-processing software. In this role, you will contribute to product development as part of a tightly integrated, collaborative, agile team of engineers.  The initial focus of this role will be on verification and test automation, but over time, you will have opportunities to implement software enhancements and engage with our Application Engineering team to investigate challenging customer problems.

Location: Hexagon is a global company with office around the world. This hybrid role is based in Calgary, AB. 

As a Geomatics Designer, responsibilities include:

• Lead design and test execution activities for production software releases
• Create or update test procedures based on new software features
• Create and maintain automated system level tests
• Support and configure all aspects of existing Jenkins-based automated building and testing platform
• Create, update and maintain test utilities and scripts using C++, Python, or other languages
• Designing, coding, and testing of assigned software features
• Investigate reported field issues and potentially perform customer service duties
• Participation in process improvement activities

Must-Have:

• Degree in Geomatics Engineering or a related technical field
• Programming experience with Python and C++
• Experience with test automation
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of GNSS positioning concepts, such as PPP and RTK

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience working with continuous integration systems, especially Jenkins
• Experience with software development tools like Microsoft Visual Studio
• Hands-on experience with Linux distributions, especially Ubuntu
• Experience with other programming languages, such as C#, C, or scripting languages
• Experience working as part of an Agile team
• Theoretical understanding of estimation and filtering
• Knowledge of INS and other sensor fusion theory
