Overview

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division is seeking a Technical Specialist or Technical Lead, Sensor Fusion to join a global leader in engineering and manufacturing, where you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that make a significant impact. In this role, you will support some of the industry's leading companies by coordinating and demonstrating Hexagon Autonomy & Positioning’s innovative solutions and assisting new customers in integrating our products.

 

Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations worldwide. Preference will be given to candidates in Calgary, AB. However, for the right candidate, we will consider applicants from our other locations: Aberdeen, UK; Morton, IL. Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world that could be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

As our Technical Specialist or Technical Lead, Sensor Fusion, your main responsibilities would be to:

  • Support the sales process by coordinating successful evaluations to increase the adoption of Hexagon A&P products and services
  • Perform post-evaluation follow-up on sensor fusion product demonstrations and feedback to Product Management
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation to external customers and internal support teams, including troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles
  • Integrate new products into the support organization, including developing support materials and training support teams
  • Provide training to sales and support teams to enhance their knowledge as well as customers as part of the post-sales support process
  • Manage cases escalated to product development teams by thoroughly documenting the issue, providing detailed context, and ensuring clear and timely communication between support and development teams
  • Provide advanced technical support, resolving complex issues escalated from other support teams
  • Track the progress of escalated cases, facilitate follow-up actions, and ensure that resolutions are effectively communicated back to the customer and internal stakeholders

Qualifications

Must-have:

  • B.Sc. in Geomatics, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in engineering or technical support, preferably with GNSS and INS.
  • Strong knowledge in GNSS/INS/sensor fusion theory including related sensor technologies, performance characteristics, error sources, and compensation methods.
  • Familiarity with combined (tightly and deeply coupled) systems, particularly the integration of GNSS and INS technologies, and their use in various operational environments.
  • Experience in the practical use of these systems in operational scenarios and understanding of application-specific requirements and potential issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability in utilize diagnostic tools for system evaluation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces, serial communications, and network protocols.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and self-motivated team player.
  • A valid driver’s license and passport and the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time to meet with customers, provide on-site assistance, or attend industry events.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proficiency in ticketing systems, such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar platforms.
  • Experience integrating GNSS cards and enclosures into final applications.
  • Experience using Waypoint post-processing and NovAtel Application Suite (NAS) software.
  • Experience with other programming languages (C#, Python, MATLAB, etc.).
