As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and maintenance of our real-time service (data) delivery systems. You will be working within the Veripos Service Delivery Group and collaborating with the wider Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division on a variety of satellite positioning related projects. 

Veripos, part of Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division, is a provider of precise positioning products and services to the marine and land markets. As part of these services, we operate a global GNSS reference station network with control centres in Aberdeen and Hyderabad, managed by the Service Delivery Group.
 

The role encompasses many aspects of our new product developments but is primarily focused on the design, implementation and deployment of new systems and infrastructure to support our expanding positioning services. These positioning services will be used in the future of autonomy and other markets such as marine, agriculture, survey, mobile mapping and automotive.

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Aberdeen, UK.

 

Responsibilities

As a Network Engineer, responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of new services and infrastructure working with the CE and SE for Correction Services. This includes areas such as hardware, OS, software, and networking deployment of new systems in support of new services.
  • Implementation, management, and coordination of test systems to support internal, inter-company and Partner testing of firmware and services, both new and legacy.
  • Management and support of existing back-office systems
  • Support the existing Veripos SDG network and Infrastructure to ensure that downtime is minimised, and client needs are catered for.
  • The installation and maintenance of hardware and software within NCC’s and stations, ensuring the highest quality of installation and maintenance possible.
  • Assisting in the analysis of the quality of the service delivery systems by measuring performance and utilising the information to ensure that the best service is provided in production and test environments.
  • Part of the on-call rota within the SDG

Qualifications

Must-Have:                       

  • Be educated to degree level or above, preferably in Electronic, Information Technology or other cognate subject or alternatively a related vocational field.
  • Possess a strong IT background with, with Linux, and networking knowledge as well as basic database administration and configuration skills.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills and be able to produce high-quality technical reports, procedures and other similar documentation

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge in GNSS and the use of GNSS enabled systems and their applications.
  • Experience with Polarion RMT
