Verification and Validation Engineer

As Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer, reporting to the V&V engineering manager, you will influence business success by applying your extensive engineering background and expertise in software and hardware testing strategies within a high-tech industry. Your work will impact all phases of the product development and deployment lifecycle. You will support planning activities and deliverables for ongoing release cycles, support an exciting new range of products, carry out tasks and activities across the engineering verification and validation team. 

                                                                                             

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Perth, WA.

Responsibilities

As Verification and Validation Engineer, you will:

  • Lead test development and execution for new firmware, software, or hardware
  • Own validation process (or portion) not only from an engineering standpoint but also from a client and team relationship standpoint
  • Influence overall test strategy by helping define system test requirements
  • Proactively and regularly communicate with the project team to update on validation status
  • Run test scripts and making recommendations for design or process modification based on test results
  • Collect and analyze data collected in various test formats
  • Report generation to provide assurance that all critical aspects have been tested and validated
  • Track and coordinate all validation activities progress. Ensure key deliverables are met
  • Analyze, coordinate, and perform failure analysis activities to identify root cause of reported issues
  • Work with design teams to debug issues
  • Maintain procedures, policies, documents for validation activities
  • Ensure product and process development activities have all necessary validation and supporting justification
  • Act independently with minimal supervision to conduct validation studies
  • Utilize risk assessment to identify critical areas for validation and generate test scripts accordingly
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and equipment needs for validation/testing
  • Demonstrate good project management skills and leadership qualities
  • Be open to a flexible and fluid work environment

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or Scientific degree
  • Experience in reviewing internal requirements and industry standards documentation to support various test phases
  • Experience authoring/editing/executing validation documents
  • Ability to read & analyze electrical schematics, Mechanical drawings to build and debug systems
  • Basic hands-on with electrical, hardware installs and modifying and building electrical harnesses

  • Intermediate skills with WORD and EXCEL (authoring/editing technical documents)
  • Proven attention to detail and organization (including technical proofreading, follow-through, and project communication)
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in hardware or software validation
  • Familiarity with electronic actuation of vehicle-control systems, automotive-grade controllers in safety-critical applications
  • Experience with multi-sensor systems and technologies, including GNSS, IMU, Laser, LiDAR, RADAR, ultrasonic, vision/optical, etc.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Use of data acquisition equipment(Vector tools, National Instruments tools, Somat Edaq, etc..)
  • CAN bus communication and diagnostics experience (OBDII, J1939)
  • MATLab Simulink exposure for HIL testing
  • Familiar with programming languages such as C++, Python, CAPL
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience with Test Management tools(Xray, DOORS etc..)
  • Experience with Agile workflow
