Overview

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division, is looking for an Embedded Engineering Intern to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company.  To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Drive By Wire Embedded team. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on with a distributed engineering team in the US and Australia to develop, deploy, and support customer projects developing and leveraging current generation and next generation by-wire system modules to unlock control of autonomous vehicles . Working with our experienced team of Embedded Engineers where you will gain valuable experience in developing firmware using both C++ and model based design. 

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position has two openings. One based onsite in Morton, IL and one based onsite in Wangara, WA

Responsibilities

As a Embedded Engineering Intern, responsibilities include:

 

  • At the direction of project engineers develop vehicle interface, controls and other software in C++ for deployment for Drive By Wire systems. 
  • Refine various software applications for latency, security, user experience, and failure tolerance. 
  • Contribute to system documentation. 
  • On-vehicle testing of software releases. 
  • Safety Analysis. 
  • Other various tasks. 

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Registered in an Engineering or Computer Science program at a recongized post secondary institution.
  • Available for a minimum 4 month work term.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Confident Self-starter.
  • Detail oriented person able to follow complex instructions with a “first-time right” attitude.
  • Motivated by challenging work.
  • You are comfortable working individually but know when to ask for help.
