Overview

Hexagon is looking for another GNSS Receiver Systems Analyst to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of products, including Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers, smart antennas, perception and autonomy systems, and GNSS precise positioning services. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled, cross-functional team on new and current product designs. You will gain a big-picture view of the complete life cycle of our industry renowned GNSS receivers. You will be deeply involved in significant aspects of the overall receiver design, primarily RF design and performance optimization. This role requires collaboration with a cross-functional product development team to identify and mitigate risk, and to ensure that the design meets its functional, quality, schedule, and cost targets.

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based on-site in Calgary, AB.

Responsibilities

As a GNSS Receiver Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing system analysis through modelling, simulation, as-built characterization, test-to-fail, targeted performance trade-off analysis, etc.
  • Assessing cross-domain dependencies, including the simulation and modelling of system components to allow data-driven decisions for optimal system performance
  • Investigating system impairment through simulation, analysis, and design of experiments (DoE)
  • Actively participating in pre-development and early engineering activities
  • Exploring and participating in the derivation of system, hardware, and software performance requirements
  • Participating in the understanding and implementation of various industry standards
  • Providing consultation to product life cycle support teams through analysis of characterization and sustaining data for our fielded products
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement and application of systems analysis processes, best practices, and tools
  • Developing analysis tools through scripting, graphing, and other means
  • Gaining an understanding of the system through development of test/characterization plans
  • Determining meaningful approaches to test set-up, test automation, test execution, data collection, and data analysis
  • Conducting design and test reviews with a cross-functional design and test team
  • Presentation of test/analysis results, including recommendations

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • B.Sc. or M. Sc. in Engineering or equivalent education
  • 3+ years experience in a high technology, product development environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong debugging and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to achieve Canadian Controlled Goods security status

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge and experience in GNSS receiver system architecture and INS is a strong asset
  • Proficiency in C++ programming, Matlab/Simulink simulation and modelling, and Perl, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Hands on experience using specialized lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, complex signal generators, GNSS constellation simulators, and data logging applications
  • Previous wireless communication, Radio Frequency (RF), and/or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience would be an asset
  • Familiarity with requirements management and architectural design tools
