Overview

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a Systems Engineer to join the Veripos Service Delivery Group, in this exciting role you will be working on a variety of satellite positioning related projects and products.

 

The role encompasses all aspects of systems product development e.g. creating robust and complete requirements, contributing to product road-maps, scoping out design effort, designing system architecture and researching various technologies to enhance performance.

 

Whilst being responsible for the overall system engineering of the products you will provide positioning domain expertise within projects and liaise closely with the software and hardware development teams.

 

Veripos, part of Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, is a provider of precise positioning products and services to the marine and land markets.  The delivery of these services is the responsibility of the Service Delivery Group which operates a global GNSS reference station network with control centers in Aberdeen and Hyderabad.

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the worldThis position is based in our Aberdeen office, Scotland.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Maintain, improve and apply system engineering processes
  • Involvement in all stages of the product development process to ensure a high quality of technical solution, delivering to the customers’ needs.
  • Draft, document, communicate and manage system requirements across all engineering disciplines and across multiple simultaneous projects
  • Manage in conjunction with the project manager to ensure compliance to the required specifications while balancing decision making with competing business requirements such as product and project cost as well as time to market
  • Investigation of system level problems and resolving issues defects
  • Assist Chief Engineers with key customer liaison duties including technical proposals, presentation of system designs, investigation of reported issues, and some aspects of project management
  • Work with product management to develop product road-maps and with other technical disciplines to de-risk key technical challenges in meeting the road-map

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • B.Sc / B.Eng in engineering or technical discipline with 5 years of experience, including demonstrable time in a systems engineering role
  • 3 years satellite positioning / navigation experience
  • Understanding and knowledge of system engineering principles, with proven record of applying these in cross-functional product development
  • Well versed in developing and managing verifiable system level requirements for both hardware and software

Key Success Factors:

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills at all levels and very effective teaming skills
  • Collaborative abilities in multi-disciplined teams
  • Ability to take work/tasks/projects to closure
  • Possess excellent analytical skills and be able to produce high-quality technical reports, procedures and other similar documentation

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience and knowledge of engineering and marine industry standards
  • Electronics hardware experience
  • System level engineering within the cloud engineering space.
  • Experience in geomatics, GNSS signal tracking, inertial navigation, DSP, MatLab, and Python
