Overview

We are hiring a Functional Safety Engineer and you'll play a key role conducting functional safety analysis and planning to ensure our autonomy products are in compliance at Hexagon Autonomy & Positioning. You will work closely with our Chief Engineer and Autonomus Site Solutions Principal Engineer and collaborate with our highly skilled team to develop autonomy products. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Perth, Western Australia, Australia and we offer a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

As Functional Safety Engineer, you will:

  • Develop functional safety plans for product development and work with process owners to address functional safety and process requirements
  • Work with our customers to ensure safety and regulatory requirements are met
  • Create safety concepts and related documentation
  • Perform safety analysis and metrics calculations
  • Review and approve work products from a functional safety perspective
  • Conduct product functional safety audits and assessments and support third party audits and assessments

Qualifications

Must-Have:                 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Science)
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a functional safety compliant product development environment with involvement in functional safety activities
  • Exposure to development of autonomus mining systems

Key Success Factors:

  • Ability to work productively with colleagues and cross functional teams
  • Proficient in leading technical activities
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as it pertains to articulating, documenting and presenting findings and recommendations

Nice-to-Have:

  • Exposure to ISO 17757 Autonomous Machinery Standard
  • Exposure to Western Australia DMIRS Safe Mobile Mining Code of Practice
