Purchasing Associate 

We are looking for a Purchasing Associate to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader in technology. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and managing open orders against inventory levels to drive on-time delivery to meet our customer's needs. The Purchasing team is responsible for procuring high quality materials and services according to planning and forecasting, while maintaining a highly competitive cost structure.

This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, a global technology leader, pioneering end-to-end solutions industry leaders rely on for assured positioning and autonomy on land, sea and air. Our work touches every aspect of life, from sustainability on Earth to enabling autonomy. Within the Autonomy & Positioning division your work will contribute to the operation of our brand AutonomouStuff. 

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Morton, IL. 

Responsibilities

As Purchasing Associate, you will: 

  • Build productive relationships internally and externally (e.g. external suppliers)
  • Send quote requests to suppliers
  • Create and process purchase orders and purchase change orders to suppliers
  • Track and monitor open purchase orders to ensure items arrive on time, and expedite as needed
  • Provide material status updates to stakeholders
  • Proactively identify potential supply risks and provide recommendations to meet and achieve the Supply Chain service levels and project schedules
  • Collect, review, and maintain accurate costs, lead times and export information in ERP system
  • Assist with vehicle procurement
  • Vendor RMA administration: resolve material issues with suppliers and process vendor returns
  • Add value, reduce costs and input to business improvements and supply resources
  • Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments

Qualifications

Must-Have:     

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant purchasing experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Adaptable and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision
  • Able to interact effectively with office staff and senior management

Nice-to-Have:

  • Preferred experience in manufacturing supply chain
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and visual manufacturing processes and systems
