Software Test Engineer

We are looking for a Software Test Engineer to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader in tech that does cool stuff that matters. Reporting to our Manager of Test Engineering, you are an engineer who is keen to grow your career and fulfill a vital role, collecting and analyzing real-world GNSS/INS data and working in a cooperative and dynamic engineering community of practice.

This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, a global technology leader, pioneering end-to-end solutions industry leaders rely on for assured positioning and autonomy on land, sea and air. Within the Autonomy & Positioning division your work will contribute to the operation of our brand(s) NovAtel, AutonomouStuff, VERIPOS and Antcom.


The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Calgary, AB and is a hybrid based position.


As Software Test Engineer, you will:

  • Design, execute and maintain verification and validation scripts written in Python
  • Deploy and monitor tests in a continuous integration system (Jenkins)
  • Collect and analyze real-world GNSS/INS data
  • Refine functional and performance requirements for validation traceability 
  • Document test design, specifications, runs, results, and compliance to requirements
  • Troubleshoot test failures and investigate issues for root cause analysis
  • Participate in process improvement activities



  • Degree in Geomatics Engineering/Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of GNSS tracking theory and principles
  • Experience writing and debugging Python
  • An inherent desire for producing high quality work and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

  • Experience with:
    • Analyzing datasets 
    • Test automation using Jenkins (CI/CD)
    • Source control using Git and/or Perforce
    • Polarion ALM for test management
    • ASPICE V&V process areas
    • GNSS simulators
    • ISTQB Certification or similar
