Business Development Manager

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company that is committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement. The position will focus on identifying market opportunities focused on applications for the Marine business segment.

This position is with Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division, a global technology leader, pioneering end-to-end solutions industry leaders rely on for assured positioning and autonomy on land, sea and air. Within the Autonomy & Positioning division your work will contribute to the operation of our brand(s) NovAtel, AutonomouStuff, VERIPOS and Antcom.

 

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position can be based in our Aberdeen Office, Scotland or Home Based in Europe or the US.

Responsibilities

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Manage business relationship for potential clients including identifying customer requirements, contract negotiations, issue management and development of solutions for these potential clients
  • Represent the Sales function in conjunction with Marketing and Engineering in the Marine business planning cycle
  • Develop market plans for assigned market including market segmentation analysis, projections for potential clients and current clients, positioning of our offering in the marketplace, creating new market need for emerging technology and identify new technology needs and new applications for existing technology
  • Participate in sales documents/brochure development and promote us in the market
  • Develop, coordinate, and manage sales projections, prospects, client visits, presentations, RfI/RfQ responses and other business development efforts
  • Coordinate activities and client contact of individuals involved in the sales process including close coordination with our technical and operations staff throughout the entire sales process. This includes management updates, application of sales tools, process assessment and managing the sales pipeline
  • Represent the sales function for investment and business planning within the marine segment

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Deep understanding of marine positioning requirements and an extensive network of marine contacts particularly in the OSV sector
  • Be an active and a respected voice within the marine community
  • Ability to be self-directed and results oriented to manage long sales cycle prospects through to closure
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility
  • Sound judgement in decision making and execution
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with ability to provide recommendations on issues
  • Proven ability to foster relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Ability to multi-task and work autonomously
  • Ability to act as seasoned, experienced professional with an understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaboration, negotiation, and teamwork with a diverse group of sales, marketing, engineering, and various other proposal personnel
  • Experience in contract negotiations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel, worldwide, up to 50% of the time
  • Fluency in English language both written and spoken

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of GNSS technology as well as other marine position reference sensors and Inertial Positioning systems
  • Experience within the commercial marine and naval segments
