Novatel (Hexagon) currently has an opening for a highly motivated and talented RF Antenna Engineer to design and productize customized, high-quality GNSS antenna products. Reporting to the Manager, RF and Antenna Design, you will be a valuable member of an innovative and agile team of designers working on complex designs for various markets such as Precision Agriculture, Defense, Survey and Autonomous vehicles. As well, you will be responsible for executing new product development processes and engaging in product sustaining efforts across our product portfolio.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and introduce products into production that address real world problems and needs. 


As an RF Antenna Engineer within NovAtel you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, testing and documenting antenna architectures,  structures and PCBAs. 
  • Use your skills with state-of-the-art simulation software you will ensure your designs meet the intent of the requirements prior to building prototypes.
  • Ensure our products are delivered in accordance with the NovAtel Product Development Process.
  • Diagnose malfunctions in existing products and make improvements or modifications to increase product reliability and/or manufacturability.  Lead root cause analysis investigations and document corrective actions.
  • Support Sales and Marketing with product recommendations, new design suggestions, and request for quote technical assistance.
  • Perform technical writing which may include proposals, reports, test procedures, and specifications.
  • Assist in the planning, testing, and documentation of product performance against design, robustness, manufacturability and regulatory requirements.
  • Define acceptance test procedures and implement efficient test solutions.
  • Work directly with key external antenna/element suppliers and NovAtel component engineering to ensure the suppliers are both technical able to meet the product antenna requirements and can manufacture the antennas with high yield rates.



  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; Masters of Science, Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years antenna design related experience in the aerospace, agriculture, navigation or defense industries.
  • Proven knowledge of antenna design theory.
  • Experience designing and measuring antenna element structures.
  • Experience with 3D RF simulation software (HFSS, CST, FEKO, or similar).
  • Experience with 2D RF simulation software (ADS, Designer, or similar) and PCB layout tools.
  • Experience evaluating antenna performance metrics in an anechoic environment.
  • Experience working with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other RF test equipment.
  • Experience as an active and responsible team member working on small to large engineering projects.
  • Proven product development success, develping and introducing designs into high volume production.

  • Experience designing GPS/GNSS antennas.
