  • Overview

    In this 12 month temporary role as Verification Engineer for NovAtel’s GNSS Algorithms team you will fulfill a critical role for the organization to help ensure quality products and services are provided to NovAtel’s world wide customer base.  With this position comes the opportunity to collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and learn about NovAtel’s positioning technologies.  As part of this group you will be a member of a leading global GNSS receiver manufacturer who is at the forefront of emerging technologies.

     

    This position is located in the Hexagon Calgary Campus, which opened in September 2018. In this state-of-the-art location, we offer a casual and innovative work environment, including leading edge technology, on-site gymnasium, dedicated bike storage room, and underground parking.

    Responsibilities

    In this entry level 12 month temporary full time role you will:

    • Work individually and in small teams to develop and enhance NovAtel’s industry-leading positioning algorithms for performance enhancements, new features and special applications.
    • Verification design and test execution for production releases.
    • Create or update NovAtel test utilities and scripts using C++, Python, or other scripting languages
    • Analyze test results using graphical and statistical data to identify and investigate firmware defects
    • Close cooperation with other engineers, and the Product Management, Customer Support, and Product Verification teams.
    • Participation in process improvement activities.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have:                       

     

    • Degree in Geomatics Engineering/Computer Science or a related technical field.
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to others.
    • The ability to work effectively and smoothly with other developers, customer service, marketing and verification personnel.
    • An inherent desire for producing high quality work and continuous improvement
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • A valid driver’s license.

    Nice-to-Have:

    • Theoretical understanding of estimation and filtering.  
    • Knowledge in the following areas:
      • Carrier phase algorithms including Precise Point Positioning/RTK
      • Augmentation of GNSS data with other sensors
    • Development experience using MS Visual Studio C++.
    • Scripting experience using Python
    • Experience with test automation
    • Understanding and experience of real time operating systems and embedded firmware development.
