Overview

NovAtel is looking for a geomatics software engineer to join our world-class GNSS receiver tracking software team.  As a member of this team you will develop bleeding edge high precision tracking firmware features to support our specialized applications and customers.  Your previous experience developing and testing GPS software, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and methodical problem solving approach will support ongoing business initiatives in our exciting high tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work individually and in small teams to develop and enhance NovAtel’s industry-leading GNSS tracking algorithms for performance enhancements, new features and special applications
  • Design, C++ code, and developer test software features for production releases
  • Apply signal processing theory to research and investigate improvements
  • Define functional and performance requirements for tracking features
  • Improvements and maintenance of existing C++ software
  • Analyze test data using graphical and statistical tools to evaluate solutions and identify and investigate firmware defects
  • Work with verification engineers to plan and support testing of software features
  • Support development of the team’s skills through personal skills development, continuous improvement initiatives, and knowledge transfer

Qualifications

Must-Have:  

  • Degree in geomatics engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
  • 4+ years of industry experience developing or testing C++ software
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of GNSS tracking algorithms
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-Have: 

  • Experience with real time operating systems and embedded firmware development
  • Understanding of GNSS receiver architecture
  • Field experience with GPS/GNSS applications
  • Experience with other programming or scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience in developing unit tests
  • Experience in software verification
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Masters or PhD degree in geomatics engineering
