Antcom, a wholly owned subsidiary of NovAtel and part of the Hexagon Group, is currently searching for a highly motivated Mechanical Designer who will drive design documentation best practices into our antenna products portfolio to ensure we maintain a leadership position in our key market segments. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and documentation of our antenna products as well as management of our environmental test equipment.


  • Create, modify, and update product solid models and 2D drawings.
  • Create conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for new antenna products, including antenna components, test fixtures, assembly tools, and verification test mounts.
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing principles into product designs.
  • Select raw materials and components; develop material cost estimates.
  • Maintain environmental test equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions and calibration timetables.
  • Document product design and process changes through Engineering Change Orders.
  • Document design details of vendor components, including export control classification numbers.
  • Test product performance against environmental requirements such as RTCA/DO-160G and MIL-STD-810G.
  • Create environmental test plans and formally document verification test results for customer approval and FAA certification.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis investigations for product mechanical issues, and document corrective actions.
  • Write assembly work instructions and assist in creation of assembly workbooks.
  • Work with Sales to generate customer end use documentation for export control.
  • Ensure product catalog is up-to-date by releasing revisions in PowerPoint and PDF format.



  • High school diploma or equivalent; two-year technical degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D drawings and Creo 3D (Pro/Engineer) modeling required
  • Must be a US person (i.e. US citizen or permanent resident) , as Antcom is an ITAR-registered facility

  • Experience designing products for the aerospace, defense, and/or marine industries
  • Knowledge of robustness standards (MIL-STD-810G, DO-160G)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and stackup analysis
  • Experience with FAA certification process
  • Experience with thermal and/or finite element analysis tools
  • Experience designing molded parts
