  • Overview

    NovAtel is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in our OEM Systems group. In this technical leadership role, you will be part of a highly-motivated and multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for developing a variety of innovative, high precision Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) solutions, including GNSS smart antennas, receiver enclosures and anti-jamming products.

     

    The Senior Systems Engineer is involved in all phases of the product development process and provides systems-level expertise through activities such as requirements elicitation and management, systems architecture, design trade studies, interface definition, risk management, and the planning, coordination and execution of system integration, verification and validation activities.

     

    You will collaborate with a highly skilled, cross-functional product development team to ensure that the system design meets its functional, performance, quality, schedule and cost targets.

    Responsibilities

    As Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for:

    • Applying a cross-functional and collaborative approach to the planning, design, development, and compliance of complex GNSS system solutions.
    • Evaluating customer requirements and operational use cases to define system functional and performance requirements.
    • Analyses for reliability, maintainability, testability, usability, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, affordability, safety, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties.
    • Performing systems modeling (e.g. MBSE, SysML) to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors.
    • Establishing system integration, verification and validation plans.
    • Ensuring compliance of the design with the system requirements, standards and specifications while balancing competing business requirements such as cost and time to market.
    • Contribution to the continuous improvement and application of Systems Engineering processes and best practices.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have:                       

    • B.Sc. in Engineering with 10+ years of product development experience, including 3+ years in a systems engineering role
    • Familiarity with requirements analysis, system decomposition, requirements allocation, product/system integration, verification and validation
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be eligible for Controlled Goods, Reliability and Secret level security status

    • Knowledge and understanding of traditional systems engineering principles

    Nice to Have:

    • Experience in robust product development, for operation in harsh environmental environments, such as defence, marine, agricultural and automotive
    • Familiarity with requirements management methodologies and tools, such as Polarion or DOORS
    • Application of reliability engineering principles (FMEA, RCA, MTBF, etc.)
    • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related tools, such as Enterprise Architect
    • Experience working with system integrators/OEMs
    • Familiarity with Geomatics, GNSS products and applications
