Overview

Antcom, a wholly owned subsidiary of NovAtel and part of the Hexagon Group, is currently searching for an Assembler / Technician to join our Research and Development (R&D) team.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to build and test a wide variety of customized, high-quality antenna products on quick-turn timescales. In this role, you will have a chance to see our latest products under design, suggest design improvements for greater manufacturability, and recommend manufacturing process improvements for greater production throughput.

 

Responsibilities

As a member of the R&D product development team:

 

  • Solder, assemble, and modify radio frequency (RF) hardware including antennas and circuits.
  • Test the performance of antenna products using electronic test equipment, document acceptance test procedures, and teach Production team members new acceptance test methods.
  • Conduct test and measurement procedures independently.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware.
  • Assist with electrical and environmental test planning, execution, and documentation.
  • Propose design improvements for greater product manufacturability.  Recommend manufacturing process improvements for greater production throughput.

Qualifications

Must-Have: 

  • Excellent practical skills and capability of precisely soldering high frequency connections
  • Experience in testing analog and RF circuits using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment
  • Capability of understanding the fundamentals of RF and electronics theory
  • Ability to read and understand electrical circuits and schematics
  • High School diploma.  Post-secondary technical education preferred.
  • 5+ years experience work with soldering and tools
  • Must be a US person (i.e. US citizen or permanent resident) , as Antcom is an ITAR-registered facility

Nice-to-Have:

  • Familiarity with ISO9001:2008 and other quality and workmanship standards
  • Experience measuring antenna radiation patterns and scattering parameters
  • J Std Certified IPC soldering training
  • Technical / mechanical knowledge, skills and experience in assembling, processing and repairing a wide range of equipment or products
  • Familiarity with PCB layout tools (Altium Designer or similar)
  • Experience with RF simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, or similar)
  • Experience working in the aerospace or defense industries
  • Knowledge of defence/aerospace environmental requirements / standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
