Overview

Antcom, a wholly owned subsidiary of NovAtel and part of the Hexagon Group, is searching for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer who will drive engineering best practices into our product portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and verification testing of antenna products.  In this role, your work will impact the growth of the company, and you will have a chance to shape our future product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Create conceptual and detailed mechanical designs and drawings for new antenna products, including antenna components, test fixtures, assembly tools, and verification test mounts.
  • Document product design and process changes through Engineering Change Orders.
  • Analyze and test product performance against environmental requirements such as RTCA/DO-160G and MIL-STD-810G.  Create environmental test plans and formally document verification test results for customer approval and FAA certification.
  • Conduct root cause analysis investigations for product mechanical issues, and then recommend, implement, and document corrective actions.
  • Write assembly work instructions and assist in creation of assembly workbooks.
  • Ensure product catalog is up-to-date by releasing revisions in PowerPoint and PDF format.
  • Support new business development through evaluating proposed mechanical requirements, generating compliance matrices, and authoring mechanical portions of quotation responses.
  • Collaborate with our parent company’s mechanical engineering team to implement common engineering processes and best practices.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent four-year engineering degree
  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Experience with two or more CAD tools including Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, and/or SolidWorks
  • Must be a US person (i.e. US citizen or permanent resident) , as Antcom is an ITAR-registered facility

Nice-to-Have: 

  • Experience designing products for the aerospace, defense, and/or marine industries
  • Knowledge of robustness standards (MIL-STD-810G, DO-160G)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and stackup analysis
  • Experience with FAA certification process
  • Experience with thermal and/or finite element analysis tools
  • Experience designing molded parts
