Overview

Veripos is a provider of high precision navigation and positioning products and services to the offshore marine oil and gas industry. We are looking for a full time Project Manager - Software Development to join our R&D department in Aberdeen. 

As a Project Manager - Software, you will be working within the Veripos technical team and collaborating with the wider Hexagon Positioning Intelligence Group on a variety of software applications and components which deliver into satellite positioning related projects and products including, but not limited to, our Marine product line.

 

The role encompasses all aspects of Project management e.g. leadership and co-ordination of all aspects of the ongoing projects including planning, organizing, staffing, and controlling project costs and quality.

 

You will adhere and contribute to Veripos’ design best practices and design processes. You will pro-actively work with the functional domain teams to identify and mitigate risk and to ensure that projects meet functional, quality, schedule and cost targets.

Responsibilities

Project Management (Primary Responsibility)

  • Ensure work is conducted to the required scope and quality within time and budget whilst following all technical department and project management processes
  • Planning and monitoring the project
  • Preparing and maintaining project plans
  • Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans
  • Liaison with the project engineering lead and related projects to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated
  • Monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating corrective action where necessary
  • Applying change control processes
  • Reporting through agreed lines on project progress 
  • Maintaining an awareness of potential interdependencies with other projects and their impact
  • Adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards
  • Identifying and obtaining support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project
  • Conducting “lessons learnt” reviews to assess how well the project was managed preparing any follow-on action recommendations

Program Management (Secondary Responsibility)

  • Assist in planning, resourcing to lead and control the delivery of the program and its activities in accordance with the priorities of the organisation.

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Qualification in a technical discipline required at B.Sc. 2:1 minimum,
  • 5+ years’ experience of project management in product development
  • 5+ years’ experience of offshore surveying / positioning
  • Experience of effectively managing subcontractors, design partners and vendors within the UK and overseas.

  • Determine strategies to move the organisation forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results
  • Highly desirable to have knowledge of offshore positioning and satellite navigation.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Knowledge of marine positioning
  • Experience of working with “offshored” software development projects (India preferably)
