As a NovAtel Electronics Technician/Technologist you will be mentored to provide superior internal customer service related to maintenance of test equipment and the RF network of our Hardware & Software Engineering Labs. This post has been created to support our move to a new high technology building in September 2018 and is a temporary contract role for a period of approximately 9 months.


As a member of our Engineering team, you provide hands on support in the set-up and maintenance of lab networks, test equipment, RF antenna networks, rooftop antenna configuration and other maintenance and support activities at the existing Headquarters building in north Calgary.  This role is integral to the success of our business in the existing building prior to the relocation, and, will support teardown and removal of lab infrastructure following the move.


  • Configuration of GNSS Receiver test equipment located within the Labs.
  • Change/reroute/add cabling to the antenna network for new desks, offices, labs and the production floor.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Lab infrastructure and RF networks.
  • Maintain automated SW test equipment, RF antenna network cabling to Labs and cubicles
  • Reconfigure and add to the smart antennas on the roof.
  • Work with the Product Verification teams to support van testing.
  • Equipment purchasing for SW test labs: USB hubs, RS-232 to usb, PDU’s, racks and cables of all sorts.
  • Proactively collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure products are delivered to market per project charter



  • 1+ year experience working with Electrical or Electronic equipment installation and maintenance
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic schematics
  • General understanding of RF principles applied to cable distribution of RF networks
  • Understanding of Electrical/Electronic Hardware test and Hardware troubleshooting
  • Some experience with Hardware test equipment, such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, noise figure analyzer.

  • Installation/maintenance of Computer network infrastructure
  • Software scripting skills for creating test automation routines
  • Familiarity with Canadian Electrical installation codes
  • Cable termination and manufacturing experience
