NovAtel is looking for an enthusiastic, detail oriented Supervisor, General Accounting to join our Finance Group.  In this role, you will report to the Controller, leading a team responsible for all aspects of the Accounts Receivable and Payable functions for the company.  This includes credit granting for new and existing customers, recording customer invoices and payments, vendor invoice processing and communications, as well as administration of fixed assets, monthly GST returns and non-resident tax administration and reporting.  


You will have direct responsibility for administering our expense reporting tool (Concur) and associated journal entries.  Monthly, quarterly and year end reporting to our parent company is also required.

Responsibilities as the Supervisor, General Accounting include:

  • Working with team members to guide and help solve daily transactional issues
  • Monthly reconciliation of fixed assets and A/R, and review of reconciliations for A/P, Vouchers Payable, Prepaid Accounts
  • Accounting and associated journal entries for a U.S. subsidiary to financial statement stage
  • Warranty analysis, journal entries and reporting
  • Preparation of reports and ad hoc analyses to support information needs of the CFO, Controller and departmental managers
  • Examining processes in the team and making improvements on a continuous basis
  • Review and approval of team’s journal entries related to their duties
  • Backup/vacation relief for Cost Accountant
  • Setting semi-annual performance objectives with staff and reviewing after each period end
  • Annual performance appraisals and staff development



  • Accounting degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience in accounting
  • Minimum 3 years of related accounting experience (A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets)
  • Good knowledge of underlying internal control requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel
