As part of an established team you are responsible for designing automation software, selecting and validating machines to enchance the existing production process.  The current process already supports the manufacturing of thousands of GNSS products per year at a very high quality level. Your machine automation will enable NovAtel to meet customer demands as we move into automotive markets with exponentially higher volumes and quality requirements. Not only will you have exposure to a variety of disciplines (i.e. software, electrical and mechnical), you will influence our overall production process.

NovAtel’s Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for developing exceptionally safe, robust, and reliable in-house automated manufacturing solutions. These solutions enable our production team and EMS providers to meet world-class product quality and on-time delivery targets.


  • Using the latest version of Visual Studio, design and develope control software for new manufacturing equipment and integrate into the existing automation software structure  

  •  Support and enhance real-time production monitoring software to identify any process variation                                                                     
  • Support and update the existing automation infrastructure (hardware/software) as necessary
  • Research and recommend automated manufacturing equipment that enables our production team to meet world-class product quality and on-time delivery targets (i.e. glue machines, robots)                                                                                                                               
  • Validate that new equipment is capable and meets first pass yield and uptime requirements 
  • Design, procure, and implement mechanical/electrical interfaces for required sensors/actuators



  • 1-3 years software development experience
  • BSc. in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Understanding of a production environment with a focus on quality
  • Strong C++ software development skills
  • Exposure to statistical analysis

  • Experience developing custom production machine automation software
  • Experience designing fixtures for production in a manufacturing environment
  • Working experience with MiniTab
