NovAtel is a leading edge supplier of GNSS technologies to worldwide, industry leading customers. In addition to supporting the American GPS system, NovAtel receivers also support GLONASS, Galileo and BDS positioning systems.

To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Product Verification team. The Product Verification team is responsible for testing the integrated GNSS systems, including tracking, and positioning performance as well as communications such as serial, USB, CAN, radios and Wifi.

This role offers you a chance to work hands-on with our GNSS and test automation technology. By working with our experienced team of product testers you will gain a theoretical understanding of GNSS and its applications. Over the course of an internship, you will work on multiple projects at different phases of the product life cycle. This might include working with new products as they prepare for launch or verifying updates to existing products. You will learn how to be an effective tester and how to troubleshoot a variety of issues through a structured investigation process. This job will provide you with a diverse experience in both GNSS and Firmware (FW) Verification.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with NovAtel’s GNSS products to execute system level (black-box) tests
  • Analyze GNSS performance and functional data to product requirements. Includes statistical and graphical analysis. Work with multidisciplinary team to resolve product issues.
  • Design & maintain test procedures based on new FW features
  • Design & maintain automated system level tests
  • Compile high quality written reports using standard templates
  • Create or update the NovAtel test utilities and scripts using Python and other scripting languages or C++
  • Perform field testing including testing in Kinematic, Static, and Backpack setups
  • Perform “Exploratory Testing” to create system knowledge and enhance product robustness

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term
  • Electrical, Computer, Software, or Geomatics Engineering student
  • Available for a minimum 12-month work term
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Nice-to-Have:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in Python scripting or other automation
  • Experience in C++ in a Windows environment using Microsoft Visual C++
