NovAtel is a leading edge supplier of GNSS technologies to worldwide, industry leading customers. In addition to supporting the American GPS system, NovAtel receivers also support GLONASS, Galileo and Compass. To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic COOP/internship student to add to our Electrical Engineering Hardware design team. This role offers you a chance to work hands-on alongside our RF and Digital design engineering staff to develop and test our GNSS technology. Working with our experienced team of designers you will gain valuable design experience, design methodologies, best practices as well as solid theoretical understanding of GNSS and its applications. This job will provide you with a diverse experience in both GNSS and Hardware design and test.


  • Under the guidance of senior design staff:
    • formulate design conceptual plans based from a design specification and execute them on next generation HW
    • Hand building test prototypes and debug
    • Develop automated script to expedite HW designer testing
    • Develop test plans and execute designer testing using state of the art test equipment
    • Analyze test data using graphical and statistical data to identify and investigate HW defects
    • Compile high quality written reports using standard templates



  • Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed your 3rd year of studies by the start of your work term
  • Electrical or Computer Engineering student
  • Available for a minimum 12 month work term
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
