Overview

NovAtel is a leader in the development of GNSS and GNSS/INS technologies.  We develop products that are integrated into a wide variety of applications by customers who need to know their precise location.  We are constantly striving to develop new positioning capabilities and improve existing ones to meet the challenges of an ever-expanding customer base around the world.

To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Core Geomatics group.  This group is responsible for the development and testing of the signal tracking capabilities, GNSS and GNSS/INS positioning, and post-mission processing features within the NovAtel product line.

This role offers you a chance to work hands-on with our positioning technology within one or more of the teams in the Core Geomatics group.  By working with our experienced team of developers and product testers you will gain a theoretical understanding of GNSS/INS and its practical applications, while working in a commercial engineering environment.  Over the course of the internship, you will work on multiple projects at different phases of the product life cycle.  You will learn how to be an effective tester and how to troubleshoot a variety of issues through a structured investigation process.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with NovAtel’s products to execute feature tests
  • Analyze performance and functional data to verify product requirements.  Includes statistical and graphical analysis.
  • Perform exploratory testing to create system knowledge and enhance product robustness

  • Create and maintain automated system level tests
  • Compile high quality written reports using standard templates
  • Create or update the NovAtel test utilities and scripts using C++, Python, and other scripting languages
  • Perform field testing in kinematic, static, and backpack setups
  • Investigate problems and resolve system defects
  • Investigate reported field issues, and perform customer service duties
  • Think critically and analytically to perform ad-hoc testing on features
  • Some local field work outside of the NovAtel site may be required
