As a Systems Engineer in the Geomatics team, reporting to the Director of Geomatics, you will be working on a variety of positioning-related projects and products using GNSS and other sensors. The role will include all aspects of systems product development such as creating robust and complete requirements, scoping out design effort with the help of subject matter experts, doing detailed design tradeoffs and system validation activities. You will pro-actively work with other system engineers outside of the Geomatics team and the functional domain teams to identify dependencies and mitigate risk, and ensure that designs meet functional, quality, schedule and cost targets.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with and support other Systems Engineers on projects that have positioning dependencies
  • Assume Geomatics System Engineering responsibilities for cross-functional requirements decomposition and translation of requirements to domain levels
  • Manage and ensure compliance to the SRS while balancing competing business drivers such as project cost and time to market
  • Engage with Chief Engineers, Product Management and Engineering leadership with key customer liaison duties including
    • technical proposals
    • preparation, analysis and presentation of design tradeoffs
    • investigation of system level issues
  • Apply, and help maintain and improve system engineering processes
  • Collaborate closely with functional domains related to Geomatics product development
  • Understand, explore, assess, document domain dependencies, including simulation and modelling of system components to allow data-driven decisions for optimal system performance.

Qualifications

Must-Have:                       

 

  • B.Sc. in Engineering or technical/scientific field  with 5+ years’ related experience
  • Understanding and knowledge of system engineering principles, with proven record of applying these in cross-functional product development
  • Strong  knowledge in one or more of GNSS/signal tracking/inertial technologies and the integration and use of GNSS enabled systems in end products and their applications.
  • Well versed in developing and managing verifiable system level software requirements
  • Expertise in using requirements managements tools
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with product/system verification processes and methodologies
  • Ability to estimate expected performance levels for the specification of requirements.
  • Experience simulating data for component level and end to end performance evaluation.
  • Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Must be able to achieve Controlled Goods, Reliability and Secret level security status

Nice-to-Have:

 

  • Formal systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with Polarion RMT
  • Experience and knowledge of regulatory and other industry standards including ISO/TS 16949.
  • Experience in the application of reliability engineering principles (FMEA, PFMEA, MTBF, etc.)
